  • “What is BFR Training?”

    “What is BFR Training?”

January 21, 2022 “What is BFR Training?” What is Blood Flow Restrictive Training you say? First restricting your blood flow sounds like a dangerous thing to do, but it's exactly what some Olympians, athletes, surgery patients and physical therapy patrons have done to strengthen their muscles and speed up recovery. Restricting the blood flow involves preventing blood flow to the exercising muscle. This engorgement expedites several naturally occurring biochemical reactions such as secreting nitric oxide, human growth hormone, and beta endorphins to name a few. All of these have distinct roles in the increase in blood supply, like preventing tissue ....

Have the winter blues got you feeling unmotivated?

January 14, 2022 Have the winter blues got you feeling unmotivated? Winter is here and when it’s cold it can be hard to stay motivated about your fitness. We tend to take on a “snuggle up” mentality meaning we eat more and do less… human hibernation! Regularly exercising during the colder months helps to create the body we feel more confident in during the warmer months. It also regulates our intake of fresh air when we don’t look forward to leaving the house and keeps our heavy food cravings at bay. Here are 6 tips to stay motivated when the temperature drops: 1. THE SUNSHINE VITAMIN KEEPS YOU HEALTHY, STRONG AND HAPPY. ....

  • "Live the Impossible"

    "Live the Impossible"

January 7, 2022 "Live the Impossible" Have you ever heard the flight of the bumble bee? It is a scientific phenomenon that the bumble bee with its large body and small wings can fly. Based on overall physics and scientific theory, the bumble bee should not be able to fly because based on aerodynamics it is impossible. The problem with the theory is that no one told the bumble bee. Because the bumble bee’s livelihood was based on being able to travel, its only focus was survival. With only one way to survive the bumble bee knew it had to fly; there was no other option. When we look at our lives and the situations we have encountered, many of us have tales like the bumble ....

“Is your vision clear for your health?"

December 10, 2021 “Is your vision clear for your health?" Recently I had a conversation with a client I hadn’t seen in a while, the last time I saw her she was double her size. She literally looked so amazing that I complimented her on the spot. She immediately started to put herself down. I gave her what turned out to be the first of a few BLANK STAREs. Now, don’t get me wrong, I know we are our own worse critics. A thousand people can tell you how awesome you look, but if you don’t feel it or believe it, nothing anyone can say or do will convince you otherwise. This is because most of us have very unrealistic expectations of how our bodies should ....

“Get out of the MAN CAVE and get active”

December 3, 2021 “Get out of the MAN CAVE and get active” Over the years I’ve trained 10 times more women than men. I get a lot of calls from men however many of them are calling because they want me to train their wife, woman, or mother. When I ask, what about you? They either give me a bunch of excuses as to why they can’t train or they will say, Oh I train myself. I believe it’s because men have an ego when it comes to fitness. Most men grew up playing on some organized sports team or playing in the streets or neighborhood park/open field. Growing up you would also see a group of guys working out in someone’s garage or having a push up ....

  • The Gym Is Your Medicine

    The Gym Is Your Medicine

This last week I made several appointments to see the doctor. My first appointment was for my annual physical. For me it was just a well checkup and annual lab work. All lab work came back great, no health issues or concerns. And when I say no health problems at 50 years, no blood pressure concerns, no diabetes, no high cholesterol. I take absolutely no medications. This is not a brag, but I hope to be an inspiration. I, like many of you, have a strong family history of strokes, HBP, diabetes, etc. that run in my family. I could be like most anyone else, but I choose the gym as my medication. My second appointment was for my annual mammogram and my third was to get an X-ray of my ....

November 12, 2021 “COLD- FLU-COVID-ALLERGIES, STREP...OH MY!!! ” As I was driving home from the gym this morning, with the sun shining so bright, I admired the beautiful fall colors of the leaves. Red, orange, yellow, green, and burgundy, the sight was so breathtaking. I had to run a few errands and when I returned to my car I began to sneeze. I happen to be on the phone and instead of the person saying, “God bless you” she was like…Oh my…do you have Covid? We laughed because I knew she was joking; however, a sneeze is no longer just a sneeze. The questions start to swirl either within yourself or those around you. Am I getting a cold, is this ....

If You Build Them … Muscles Will Grow!

October 29, 2021 “If You Build Them … Muscles Will Grow! ” All my life I have been fascinated about how the body works and moves. At the age of 7, I started cheering because I loved how my body felt when I would do flips and splits. As a child when a bird, animal or one of our pets got hurt, I was the neighborhood vet, I would try to fix them, and everyone would stand around to see what miracles I performed. My biggest claim to fame was reviving our family pet hamster Tony, I literally started doing CPR on the little guy. I asked my mom for a microscope set at a young age because I wanted to see how things looked on the inside. As I aged, I always enjoyed ....
