  • “TURN YOUR DISABILITY INTO AN ABILITY!"

June 14, 2024 “Turn your Disability into Ability.” Did you know that bones that were broken and heal properly are stronger than bones that have never been broken at all? It’s a fact, as well as a great metaphor for those with disabilities. As a health and fitness coach, I often tell my clients to not harp on the disability but emphasize how they have overcome it. They must send the message that adapting to, and in some cases, overcoming a disability, makes them far stronger than someone who has never gone through adversity. Whether people are born with a disability or develop one due to illness or injury or chronic condition, regular physical activity will ....

  • “Get out of the MAN CAVE and get active”

June 10, 2024 “Get out of the MAN CAVE and get active” Over the years I’ve trained 10 times more women than men. I get a lot of calls from men however many of them are calling because they want me to train their wife, woman, or mother. When I ask, what about you? They either give me a bunch of excuses as to why they can’t train or they will say, Oh I train myself. I believe it’s because some men may have an ego when it comes to fitness. Most men grew up playing on some organized sports team or playing in the streets or neighborhood park/open field. Growing up you would also see a group of guys working out in someone’s garage or ....

  • “Dress for the Sun”

June 1, 2024 “Dress for the Sun” Depending on where you live hot sunny days are upon us. Yay…this is my favorite time of the year. It is proven that people smile more during sunny days than on dark gloomy days. The sun makes for great outdoor concerts and family get-togethers. The sun helps to boost our immune system as well as provide us with a good source of Vitamin D. Let’s not forget my favorite, sunbathing and getting an amazing tan. Like a lot of people, I live for the sun however it’s important to understand sun safety when exercising outdoors. Two of the biggest hazards I witness weekly whether they are my clients or not ....

  • “What in the Pressure is Going On?”

May 25, 2024 “What in the Pressure is Going On?” It’s Memorial Day Weekend and I know most of y’all are ready to dig into those BBQ menu staples; ribs, fried chicken, burgers, potato salad, macaroni salad, cornbread, baked beans with ground beef, deviled eggs, and macaroni and cheese to name just a few. Often copious amounts of salt in our BBQ foods aid in the increase in high blood pressure. However, what we consume at the Memorial Day Weekend BBQ and even the recipes are under our control. We could try to tell Big Mama to change her potato salad recipe (but I wouldn’t try it) or you could make a low salt or no salt version, ....

  • “HOW DISCIPLINE ARE YOU?"

May 17, 2024 “How Discipline are You?” Discipline, all of us have it, most don’t use it, and little of us get it. Self-discipline is the ability to control oneself and make conscious choices. It involves doing what needs to be done, even when one doesn’t feel like doing it. Many of you don’t know how to become disciplined. You have goals and want things, yet you aren’t disciplined enough to achieve them. Self-discipline keeps you from eating too many chips after you decide to eat more nutritious food, or it keeps you from using all your paychecks to buy unnecessary clothes. Self-discipline looks different for everyone, exercising control might ....

  • "Mama Used to Say"

May 11, 2024 “Mama Used to Say” Happy No Mess Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers to be, that are and those that were. You are the anchor to the world. Out of both genders God created, He chose Women to bring life into the world. What an honor to know you were born beautiful, strong, and capable of accomplishing anything you set out to do. I recently heard a song I hadn’t heard in years by the artist Junior. As a kid I never really listened to the lyrics, but the music always did something to my soul. The chorus is what I want to focus on. “Mama used to say, take your time young man, don’t you rush to ....

  • “Are you Excursion Ready?”

April 26, 2024 “Are you Excursion Ready?” We often hear of being “Summertime Fine, Beach Body Ready or Swimsuit Ready” those are all great goals however are you also Excursion Ready? I just returned from my amazing trip to Tulum, but I must tell you, being in good health mentally and physically made my trip even more amazing. BEACH The beach is truly one of my happy places. However, walking, let alone running on the sand can be very tasking on your body and your endurance. If your balance or stability is off it can seem impossible for some. Can you imagine using a walker or cane on sand? I love being in the ocean. But ....

  • “Are You ready to get Promoted?”

April 19, 2024 “Are you ready to get promoted?” I heard a great inspirational clip on social media this week and it made me think of how it relates to my clients when it comes to health & fitness. An individual had been at a job for 25 years while another person had only been at the job for 2 years. The person of only 2 years received the promotion the person of 25 years had been wanting but kept getting overlooked. The 25-year employee went to their boss enraged, screaming, “How is it that this person that’s only been here for 2 years got the promotion over me and I’m the one that trained him to do this job”. ....
