    "I Can't means I don't want to!"

June 24, 2022 "I Can't means I don't want to!" I thank God for the start of a new bootcamp...old faces, returning faces and new faces, I am grateful for them all. Each new camp brings new challenges. This first week of camp I heard the word “I can’t” so many times. I know most of the time it was said out of anxiety and fear of the unknown and change, but for many it was a stop gap to avoid trying. Many of my friends joke with me about the fact that I don’t curse. I sound crazy when I have tried to curse in the past and it speaks nothing of my character. This is also how I feel about the words “I Can’t,” I view them as bad words, and TFC has ....

  • Be LOYAL to Yourself!

    Be LOYAL to Yourself!

June 6, 2022 “Be LOYAL to Yourself!” Recently a Facebook friend sent me a long inbox, so I will paraphrase it. She stated, when you first started this fitness journey, I was impressed however, I said, how long will Tadda keep this up? Then year after year, now going on 14 years, I saw that you were still at it with no end in sight.I saw you getting stronger and faster, than all our peers and aging in reverse. To be honest, I started to feel some type of way, I started to get envious because as you continued your fitness journey I gained weight, lost weight then gained double the weight and became unmotivated to try again. When I saw how hard it is to stay dedicated my ....

    “Save our Black Men”

May 27, 2022 “Save our Black Men” Once you make an observation, you have an obligation. M. K. Asante. As a nurse and trainer I made an observation that our black men were dying because of their neglect of their own health and well being. Whether it’s tough-guy bravado, FEAR, or an attitude of “ignorance is bliss,” not seeing a doctor is jeopardizing men’s health especially our black men. It’s a huge public health problem that we don’t pay enough attention to. I am following through on that obligation by initiating Men’s Health Month at TFC to encourage men to stop making excuses and start making changes. How is ....

“Rest and Recovery” It does a body good!

May 20, 2022 “Rest and Recovery” It does a body good! This week I have had several conversations with clients complaining about certain things that have been bothering them for weeks, months or even years. As I was preparing for today’s workout, I had decided to do a recovery workout and bring in all the tools I use to help me recover much faster and safely. As I was checking clients books this morning, I received confirmation that I was on the right track. A client stated that she has been suffering from neck pain and I asked what she was doing at home to care for it. She replied nothing. It is important to listen to your body, address areas that ache, are sore, ....

    Don’t Stunt your growth

May 13, 2022 “Don’t Stunt your growth” Three weeks down and three more to go. I have a new client in this bootcamp and week one she timed in on green team. She has been working out in that area and on that team, however by the second week of bootcamp she excelled immensely. I mean when I demonstrate the advanced version of the exercises, she always tries them first and the majority of the time she does very well. By the third week I told her that although she is officially on the green team, I want her to move to the middle of the room and workout with the yellow team. I also asked her to workout with the yellow team on the outdoor sessions. Her eyes got really ....

I get it from my Momma!

May 6, 2022 “I Get it from my Momma!” When I am working in my wellness center, giving vitamin B12 shots, starting IVs on clients, or waiting for their lab work to finish processing, I make small talk. This week I asked clients what they were doing for Mother’s Day. I saw many expressions of joy, excitement and pain in people faces as I asked this question. Like myself, one client is flying home and surprising their mom for Mother’s Day. One client’s mother is turning 75 and they have a huge celebration planned. One client stated she and her mom don’t have a great relationship and don’t speak often. I prayed with her to find peace ....

    I Heard That...

April 29, 2022 “I Heard That…” The first week of bootcamp always brings on a lot of interesting conversations for me. I cannot tell you how many times this week alone that someone shared some information with me that started off with “I heard that….” All of the information they shared with me was false. In my experience the term “I heard” has stopped a lot of people from trying something new, trying something that seemed impossible for them or trying some that would help them achieve their goals. Here are a few of those conversations and FACTS to dispel the “I heard that…” conversations! As I was going over ....

“It is not how you start but how you finish”

April 9, 2022 “It is not how you start but how you finish” I remember times in my life where I was worried about how things looked in the moment. Sometimes you can’t see past your here and now, making it difficult to encourage yourself for the road ahead. Our current situations sometimes blind us to what’s ahead. It’s hard to imagine running the company when you’re just trying to get hired. It’s hard to see yourself walking across the stage getting your degree, when you’re just praying to make it through that difficult class, let me tell you…nursing school at Tuskegee was no joke! One thing we can be sure ....

    IV Therapy for Allergies

April 1, 2022, IV Therapy for Allergies The runny nose. The itchy, watery, puffy eyes. The sneezing and the wheezing. Is anyone else feeling this way? You can tell when your allergies are triggered and it’s not fun. The symptoms are a result of your immune system reacting to something that is usually harmless. IV therapy can bring much needed symptom relief for allergy symptoms. DISCLAIMER: Whether taken by mouth or IV form, vitamin supplementation is for wellness only, and not intended to cure or treat disease. Although taking over the counter allergy medications seem to give us some relief, there are many side effects, with some sending you to the emergency ....

    UNBECOMING

March 25, 2022 “Unbecoming” I recently came across a new quote and I have fallen in love with it. “Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about UNBECOMING everything that isn’t you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.” One of my favorite shows on television is coming to an end after 6 years. The episode that aired this week really touched me. There is a married couple, Toby & Kate, who met in a therapy session for obese people. They were the loud ones always joking and making fun of themselves first. They appeared to be the most confident people in the group. They would wear loud colorful ....
