  • Memories are the best souvenirs!

Memories are the best souvenirs! Each time I return home from traveling, I typically bring something special back with to help recall the memories made there. Over the last 20 or more years I’ve been collecting over 100 menus from local restaurants to all across the world. A few of my favorite are from Buddha Bar in Paris, Meia Pataca in Brazil, The Shark Bar ATL, Fishbones in Detroit, Le Petit Cafe in Aruba. I can pick up any one of the menus and tell you all about my experience, who I was with and why the menu was special. I have a few mounted on the wall in my kitchen which is always a conversation piece. Most importantly this memory wall ....

  • “Dream it! Speak it! Do It!

February 9, 2024 “Dream it! Speak it! Do It! Dream it! Visualize it! Speak it! Put it into action! Watch it come to fruition! I know God speaks to me however it took me a long time to realize that’s what I was hearing/feeling. When I did realize it, it still took me years to act, because I ignored certain things, I heard God say to me. It all just seemed too unreal, unattainable, time consuming or I didn’t feel like I was worthy enough to achieve those things. Twice I almost missed out on blessings because I didn’t want to sacrifice, be obedient or it wasn’t happening the way I thought it ....

  • “A reel RED thriller…the Silent Killer!”

February 2, 2024 “A reel RED thriller…the Silent Killer!” February is Heart Health Awareness Month, a time when all people, especially women are encouraged to focus on their cardiovascular health. This heart month, the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention is encouraging women to listen to their hearts and speak up for their health. In celebration of Heart Health Awareness, Fit/Nurse Tadda is on a healthy heart crusade. This month’s TFC Calendar will be filled with lots of fitness activities, educational opportunities, and a call to action. This week I did a Fit3D body scan on a 30-year-old female. From just the looks of her, she ....

  • "Stop Blaming Your Age"

January 26, 2024 "Stop Blaming Your Age" Recently I was administering a new client an IV therapy. When I pulled out my blood pressure machine prior to the infusion she smacked her teeth. I said are you okay, she replied, yes, I knew you would probably do my blood pressure. I said do you have high blood pressure? She replied yes but not really, it just comes with aging. Her blood pressure read 197/102 (I had to infuse her IV slowly). I asked if she takes her blood pressure medication, she replied no not all the time. Me: Blank stare. As I started asking her more questions about her health and looking at her lab results, she continued to blame them on aging. I observed ....

  • I Was a Hypocrite Y'all

January 19, 2024 “I was a hypocrite y’all!” Tonight, I shared a story with my clients while I was teaching yoga and now, I’m sharing it with you. I was a hypocrite y’all! A hypocrite is a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that contradicts those beliefs. You see it wasn’t until I acknowledged my ways, took action to change them that my life went into a more positive direction. It changed so much that many doors and opportunities opened that I couldn’t even dream possible started to happen. I got in the best shape of my life. I ....

  • Just Keep on Hating

January 12, 2024 "Just Keep on Hating" A pastor asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast. “Lord, I hate buttermilk,” the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going. The farmer loudly proclaimed, “Lord, I hate lard.” Now the pastor was growing concerned. Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, “And Lord, you know I don’t much care for raw white flour.” The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn’t the only one to feel uncomfortable. Then the farmer added, ....

  • "Free your mind...The declutter will follow"

December 8, 2023 "Free your mind...The declutter will follow" Everyone who knows me knows that I keep a very clean and organized home. I am the type that everything has a place and purpose. I can’t stand clutter. Well, how did I get here? My kitchen was driving me crazy. Rushing daily, instead of taking my time to place the Tupperware or pots and pans back organized I got to the point where I would just open a cabinet slowly and just throw them in quickly so nothing else would fall out. My junk drawer started to overflow to the point where I couldn’t close it completely and then one day, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I grabbed the garbage can and I cleaned out ....

  • “Be Resilient and Bloom”

December 1, 2023 “Be Resilient and Bloom” As I was setting up for our outdoor circuit training workout at 4AM Thursday morning, it was quite cold and the temperatures this week in Atlanta were as low as 30 something degrees. All the leaves are off the trees and all the plants/flowers seemed to be dead or withered away. As I was bringing the equipment out, I saw this beautiful pink rose in full bloom. I immediately looked up to heavens and started to thank God. I first thanked God for the breath that I could see in the early morning sky. Then for this flower which for me symbolizes resilience, hope and perseverance. Late Fall/early Winter is a season of darkness, ....

Pivoting is essentially the act of changing direction by rotating your body while keeping one foot stationary. For example, pivoting when punching is a key ....

  • Practicing Mindful Fitness

Practicing Mindful Fitness My mind is racing today. So much goes into running a business and having a life. Although I was not on the stage Friday, I still have to be in the gym for all fitness sessions most days, giving out B12 shots, IV therapies, counseling clients, then running errands for myself, getting pelleted, spending time at the hospital with my best friend Stephanie as she received her chemo drip, ordering supplies, and the many other things I must accomplish in a day. Sometimes it’s hard for me to slow down. But the health benefits of slowing down and being more mindful are abundant. Finding flow in a world full of distractions takes some work. It ....
