SIT DOWN...BE HUMBLE!

What an amazing first week of bootcamp. We’re seeing lots and lots of brand-new members. I love this, especially seeing all the couples or siblings that joined together.

A word that I heard a lot this week was “humbling.” It first came up when I was going over the FIT3d body scans and was echoed loudly during the PT testing. One young lady was like, “Who knew not being able to do a push up or touch my toes would be such a humbling experience?” She went on to say, “I knew I was getting out of shape, but I didn’t realize how bad I really was.”

Being humbled affects people differently. For me, it fuels my determination to learn and practice more. However, for many being humbled can be intimating, causing them to retreat. I mean there were a couple of clients I didn’t see after PT testing day, which was day one. When I called to check on them, one guy admitted,  “I didn’t realize I was going to be tested, I wasn’t ready.” He went on to explain in so many words how his ego was bruised.

Once you accept that fitness will always be a humbling experience, even for me, exercise becomes less daunting. There are so many goals I still train for, some taking months or years to achieve. I don’t get frustrated; I love having things to work towards.

Your attitude toward being humbled shapes how you navigate life. Kendrick Lamar said it best: ”Sit Down, Be Humble!”

Being humble when losing weight or getting fit can actually help you:

1. Stay grounded and focused on long-term goals.

2. Avoid comparing yourself to others.

3. Acknowledge progress, no matter how small. This is why the PT test is so important.

4. Seek support and guidance when needed. As I told all of my new clients, I’m in your life as much as you want or as little as you want. Take advantage of the expertise in front of you.

5. Maintain a positive and realistic mindset.

Humility can also help you:

1. Celebrate small victories.

2. Learn from setbacks.

3. Stay open to new strategies.

4. Prioritize self-care.

By staying humble, you'll be more likely to sustain your weight loss journey and overall well-being. No Mess
