August 3, 2026 "Where Was Your Heart?"

Not where was your body.

Not where was your weight.

Not where was your fitness level.

Where was your heart?

Recently, someone shared a question that stopped me in my tracks. Instead of asking, “How are you doing?” they asked, “How is your heart today?”

That simple question made me think about this bootcamp.

For six weeks, we measured pounds lost, body fat reduced, muscle gained, run times, push-ups, sit-ups, and team promotions. Those numbers matter because they show progress.

But there was one thing we couldn’t measure…

Your heart.

Your heart decided whether you got out of bed before sunrise.

Your heart decided whether you came to class after a long day at work.

Your heart decided whether one unhealthy meal became one unhealthy day… or whether you got right back on track.

Your heart decided whether you would make excuses or make adjustments.

The body simply followed what the heart had already decided.

Over the years, I’ve learned something after coaching thousands of people.

People rarely quit because their bodies can’t do it.

Most quit because their hearts checked out before their bodies did.

I saw that play out during one of the most memorable moments of this bootcamp.

As we prepared for our final run, I asked everyone to stand in front of the team they believed they could earn or dream of being on. If you believed you could move up, I wanted you to stand there.

The street became very quiet.

No one moved.

Except one person, Lakisha.

She quietly stepped forward and stood in front of the Yellow Team.

This was her very first bootcamp, and she had started on the Blue Team. There were no guarantees. She simply believed enough to say,

“I’ll try. I want to try.”

That wasn’t confidence.

That was courage.

That wasn’t certainty.

That was faith.

That was HEART!

From the time I said Ready, Set...GO, Lakisha gave it her all. Lakisha crossed the finish line as a member of the Yellow Team. She not only go promoted to the another team, she got double promoted.

Her body eventually caught up to where her heart had already gone.

What if more of us lived that way?

What if we believed in ourselves before the results showed up?

What if we took one courageous step before we knew the outcome?

Every transformation begins with a decision no one else can see.

Before your body changes…

Before the scale moves…

Before your clothes fit differently…

Before someone notices your progress…

Your heart has already made the decision.

As this bootcamp comes to an end, I don’t just want you to ask yourself how many pounds you lost or how much muscle you gained.

I want you to ask yourself one question:

“Where was my heart these last six weeks?”

Was it committed?

Was it distracted?

Was it discouraged?

Or was it determined?

Because the people who continue changing long after bootcamp ends aren’t always the strongest, the fastest, or the most athletic.

They’re the ones whose hearts never leave the journey.

Remember…

Your next victory won’t begin in the gym.

It will begin in your heart! NO MESS
