June 26, 2026 "Handle the Hard"
Welcome to Camp 4 Week 1 of Bootcamp! This week, something happened that really stuck with me.
As I stood at the finish line timing our runners, one of our seasoned members, someone who consistently runs one of the fastest times on our course, crossed the line breathing hard and asked,
"Does it ever get easier?"
Without thinking, he responded, "I guess I just have to handle the hard."
The moment those words came left his mouth, they hit me just as much as they did him.
It reminded me that even the people who make it look easy are still working hard.
- They still get tired.
- Their lungs still burn.
- Their legs still ache.
The difference isn't that it's easy for them, it's that they've learned how to Handle the Hard.
The same is true in fitness and in life.
Many people think that once you start exercising, everything eventually becomes effortless. While some workouts do feel easier as your body adapts, growth only happens when you continue to challenge yourself. Every time you increase the weight, run a little faster, push through one more rep, or refuse to quit when your body wants to stop, you've entered a new level of "hard."
And that's exactly where progress lives.
The goal isn't to avoid difficult things. The goal is to become the kind of person who can handle them.
When life gets hard...
Handle the Hard.
When the workout gets hard...
Handle the Hard.
When healthy eating gets hard...
Handle the Hard.
When you don't feel motivated...
Handle the Hard.
Remember, discomfort is temporary, but the confidence you build by pushing through lasts a lifetime.
This week, don't focus on being the fastest or the strongest. Focus on becoming someone who refuses to quit when things get difficult.
Your challenge this week:
Every time you want to stop, tell yourself:
"I can Handle the Hard."
You've got this.
