May 29, 2026  "You Get the Opportunity To..."

As I continue my ACL‑healing journey, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for something many of us overlook every single day: the opportunity to move.

For months, there were things I simply could not do. Walking without discomfort. Climbing stairs with confidence. Demonstrating exercises. Bending my knee, putting on my socks and shoes.

Movements that once felt automatic suddenly became privileges I had to fight to regain.

Now, every milestone reminds me that movement is a gift, not a guarantee.

In class, when someone says, “This is hard,” I understand. Sometimes it is hard. But I also think about the people who would give anything just to have the chance to try:

The person recovering from surgery. The person in physical therapy learning to walk again. The person battling illness. The person whose body no longer moves the way it once did.

When we shift our perspective, our workout becomes less about what we have to do and more about what we get to do.

You get to walk.

You get to squat.

You get to lift.

You get to stretch.

You get to sweat.

You get to challenge your body.

You get the opportunity.

So this week, when the workout gets tough, don’t focus on the discomfort — focus on the blessing. Be grateful for what your body can do today. Give your best effort not because you have to, but because you can.

One day, you may look back and realize the very thing you complained about was actually a gift.

Never take the opportunity for granted. Move with gratitude. Train with purpose. Finish strong.
