“Round One is the Hardest...Don't Quit There!”
This week one of my older clients, Barbara - 66 years young - walked in and said,
“Can we do the Tic Tac Toe workout? We haven’t done that in months.”
Now believe me when I tell you … that workout is NO joke. So when she requested it, I was shocked. But I brought it back, and Barbara showed OUT. Full Beast Mode. Her video is now going viral almost 20,000 views in just three days! Proof that age really ain’t nothing but a number.
This workout is simple on paper:
A Tic Tac Toe board with 9 squares.
Each square = 2 minutes of work.
You record your completed reps.
Then Round 2 hits… same 9 squares…
But now you only get 1 minute 30 seconds.
I told everyone:
“You’re going to beat your Round One numbers.”
They looked at me like I had lost my mind.
“Coach… it almost killed me the first time!” 😂
But guess what?
Most of them DID beat their first- round reps.
The Lesson (And Yes, This Applies to Life)
Round One is always the hardest because:
- Your mind is overthinking
- Your body is cold
- Your muscles aren’t firing yet
- Everything feels heavier, slower, harder
But by Round Two:
- Your muscles remember
- Your joints are warm
- Your breathing is steady
- Your confidence rises
- Your body moves more efficiently
Round Two is almost always better than Round One.
This is why when I film my personal training with 4 exercises and 4 rounds, I don’t record Round One. I wait until Round 3 — when I’m warm, focused and fully in my groove.
The Fitness Truth Nobody Talks About
When you stop working out for a while:
- Your mind has to reset
- Your body is stiff
- You get extremely sore fast
- You feel discouraged
- You think you’re out of shape
- And some people quit right there
But when you stay consistent:
- Your body learns faster
- You recover faster
- You get stronger faster
- You burn fat more efficiently
- And results show up quicker
Consistency turns every Round One into a Round Three.
As Bootcamp Ends Next Week…
Do NOT disappear for two weeks and come back like it’s Round One again!
Instead:
- Come to classes
- Walk or Run in the park
- Stretch daily
- Lift something heavy
- Drink your water
- Keep your body moving
Fitness isn’t something you restart every time.
It’s something you continue.
The goal isn’t to start over.
The goal is to keep going.
No Mess. 💜
