December 12, 2025 "This May Ruffle a Few Feathers… or It May Save Yours"
This newsletter might make some folks uncomfortable or it might inspire you to fuel your body with more protein and hydrate it better. Either way, it’s a conversation worth having. A lot of people tried something big this year. Some saw success. Some struggled. Some are still trying to figure it out. The jury is still out.
I’m talking about weight-loss surgery, weight-loss medications like Ozempic and similar injections and even extreme dieting approaches.
A Real Moment in the Wellness Center
This week, a client I hadn’t seen in a long time came in for her Vitamin D3 and Vitamin B12 injections. I recognized her immediately — but when she took off her jacket so I could give her the injection, my heart sank a little.
She had gone from over 250 pounds to around 110 pounds.
She didn’t look “healthy thin.”
She looked depleted.
Using both my nursing background and compassion, I gently encouraged her to increase her protein intake and begin strength training. After rapid weight loss especially post-surgery preserving muscle isn’t optional, it’s essential.
Her response... You knew I had surgery, huh?
Yes… I knew! My eyes already told me.
The Part People Don’t Talk About Enough
Here’s the truth many never hear:
Some lose weight but never change habits
Some don’t exercise at all
Some can barely eat
Many lose muscle rapidly
Skin becomes extremely dry
Hair starts thinning
Energy plummets
Strength fades
Body massages, cavitation, and cosmetic treatments may help the outside but they do nothing for what’s happening internally.
I was proud of her for coming in for her B12 and D3 injections those matter. But they cannot do the work alone.
This Also Applies If You Didn’t Have Surgery or Shots
And let me be very clear here. Even if you did NOT have weight-loss surgery. Even if you did NOT take Ozempic or weight-loss injections. If you lost weight rapidly through:
Extreme calorie restriction
Crash dieting
Juice cleanses or liquid-only plans
Excessive cardio with little or no strength training
Skipping meals for long periods of time
This information still applies to YOU. Your body doesn’t know how the weight came off.
It only knows:
Calories dropped fast
Nutrients are limited
Muscle is being sacrificed
Hydration is compromised
Rapid weight loss stresses the body no matter the method.
The Rapid Weight-Loss Survival Kit
(Post-Surgery • Post-Injection • Post-Diet)
If you’ve experienced rapid weight loss — by any method — these are non-negotiables if you want to protect your health.
1. DAILY PROTEIN
Preserves lean muscle
Supports hair, skin, and nails
Prevents weakness and muscle wasting
2. STRENGTH TRAINING (Required)
Cardio alone won’t cut it
Lifting weights protects your metabolism
Supports posture, balance, and longevity
Whether you choose Bootcamp, Classes, or Personal Training, strength training must be part of your routine. There are no shortcuts here.
3. HYDRATION (Inside & Out)
Improves skin elasticity and dryness
Supports digestion and nutrient delivery
Helps combat fatigue and brain fog
4. IV HYDRATION THERAPY — A Game Change
At TFC, we offer IV hydration therapy, which is especially beneficial during and after rapid weight loss.
IV Hydration Helps:
Deliver fluids, vitamins, and minerals directly into the bloodstream
Bypass poor gut absorption common after surgery and extreme dieting
Boost energy and recovery
Reduce hair loss and dry skin
Support muscle repair and immunity
Combat dehydration, fatigue, and nutrient deficiencies
For many, IV hydration is not a luxury it’s a lifeline.
5. VITAMINS & MINERALS
B12, D3, iron, magnesium (as appropriate)
Absorption decreases with rapid weight loss
Labs and consistency matter
6. REAL FOOD (When Possible)
Nutrient-dense meals
Not just eating “less,” but eating better
7. CONSISTENT FOLLOW-UP
Labs matter
Body composition matters
How you feel matters
Final Thoughts (With Love & No Mess)
Weight loss alone is not the goal. Health is!
Smaller does not always mean stronger.
Thinner does not always mean healthier.
Whether you choose surgery, medication, drastic dieting, Bootcamp, Classes, Personal Training, or IV hydration, you still have a responsibility to care for your body. And if you don’t know how? That’s exactly why we’re here. Hopefully not too many feathers ruffled.
