Protect Your Temple – Feed It What It Deserves

Your bodies are your temple. Every bite, every sip, every choice sends a message either healing or harming. This week, I challenge you to pause and ask: What am I feeding my body - and why?

I have a client with diabetes who still drink several soda pops daily. I get it habits are hard to break. Sugar, caffeine, fast food, or late-night snacking…they’re comforting, familiar. But here’s the truth: the longer you feed the craving, the stronger its grip becomes.

If you’re tired of blood pressure meds, then it’s time to look at what’s really raising your pressure. Fast food is loaded with sodium. And when you pile on salt, hot sauce, or extra seasoning, you’re stacking the odds against your own health.

Your body speaks to you every day through your energy, your sleep, your pain and your labs. The question is: Are you listening?

If your child had diabetes you wouldn’t continuously feed them things that would harm them, send them into a crisis or even death. I know you would do everything in your power to help them have the best quality of life. So why do we keep doing it to ourselves?

This Week’s Challenge:

  • Be intentional with every bite.
  • Read your labels – know what’s going in.
  • Cut one thing that’s harming your health - even if it’s just for 7 days.

Your body is the only temple you’ll ever have. Treat it like it matters because it does!

TFC Health Tips of the Week

  • High blood pressure? Keep sodium under 1,200 mg per day.
  • Pre-diabetic or diabetic? Keep sugar under 40 grams per day.

Real Talk: What’s It Gonna Take?

I’ve never met anyone who said,

“I love being diabetic, I look forward to pricking my finger and giving myself shots!"

"Oh, please keep the blood pressure pills coming, I look forward to going to the pharmacy!”

“I love how my cholesterol meds make me feel!”

But I have heard:

“I’m exhausted.”

“I’m constantly fatigued.”

“I can’t think straight.”

"I hate how out of shape I feel."

You’d be surprised how these conditions drain your energy and quality of life. And every medication ad reminds us - side effects are real. One pill leads to another, and another …. until you decide to break the cycle.

So, what’s it gonna take? What will finally make you say, “Enough! My health matters.”

You have the power to rewrite your story. Start with one choice today that honors your temple.

How to Break Sugar Cravings

  1. Don’t skip meals – low blood sugar triggers cravings.
  2. Hydrate first - thirst often masquerades as hunger.
  3. Swap smart - fruit, Greek yogurt, or dark chocolate (70%+) instead of candy or soda.
  4. Cut back gradually – dilute soda or juice with water or switch to sparkling water with lemon.
  5. Get enough sleep – fatigue spikes hunger hormones and increases cravings.

How to Break Sodium Cravings

  1. Eat fresh foods - processed foods are sodium bombs.
  2. Season creatively - herbs, lemon juice, garlic, vinegar, or salt-free blends.
  3. Watch condiments – check labels on sauces and salad dressings which sneak in hundreds of mg of sodium.
  4. Stay hydrated - dehydration can trick your body into craving salt.
  5. Reduce gradually - your taste buds will adjust in about two.

🟣 Remember:

Small changes lead to big results.

Your body wants to heal - just feed it what it needs.
