Are Sneaky Calories Holding You Back?
Congratulations on wrapping up Week 5 of Bootcamp! This week’s standout moment was our Grocery Shopping Educational Tour, and wow, the lightbulb moments were powerful. Even the healthiest routines can be derailed by hidden hurdles. If you’ve felt frustrated by slow progress, you’re not alone. Just remember: small, intentional changes lead to big results.
The Sneaky Calorie Trap
We toured the Famer’s Market traveling from aisle to aisle. When we hit the condiment aisle, the energy shifted. Silence… then came the “ah-ha!” moments. Those little packets of ketchup, hot sauce, mayonnaise, and salad dressings we grab without thinking? They’re often loaded with sugar, sodium, and fat. That can mean swollen ankles, elevated blood pressure, stubborn high cholesterol - and yes, stalled weight loss. One participant shared that despite eating “clean,” counting calories, staying hydrated, and working out, their weight loss had plateaued. The culprit? Condiments! They were using more to “make food taste good,” and those sneaky calories were quietly sabotaging their results.
Why I Care So Much
I smile when longtime clients say, “I think I need to see a nutritionist.” I’m your trainer - but I’m also a Registered Nurse with 17 years of experience. Nutrition was part of my nursing curriculum, and I hold a separate nutrition certification as a trainer. In my last hospital role, I served as the Nurse Educator for the ER and ICU. Education is my passion. When I lead these tours, I don’t just teach - I captivate. We often draw curious bystanders who want to join in!
Your Challenge This Week
Weight loss isn’t just “eat less, move more.” It’s about knowing where hidden calories live and taking control. This week, I challenge you to:
- Sign up for the Grocery Tour
- Audit your condiments - even the “healthy” ones
- Track the sugar, sodium, and fat you may be adding mindlessly
- Choose flavorful swaps that support your goals
- Talk to Fit•Nurse•Tadda - she knows more than you think
By auditing your condiments, you’ll gain greater control over your nutrition. Remember: your results aren’t just built in the gym - they’re shaped by what’s in your basket and on your plate.
If you’d had any breakthroughs or challenges, reply to this email. I’d love to hear your story and support your journey. Progress isn’t always linear - but every step forward counts.
Here’s to your continued growth next week! No Mess
