“What's in your Grocery Cart?”

April 14, 2025 “What’s in Your Grocery Cart?”

As we embrace new ways to live healthier, happier lives, the grocery store has evolved as a true destination for nutrition, health, and wellness. It’s the ideal place to highlight how food can play a vital role in preventing diseases and improving overall health.

Grocery shopping is a fundamental part of daily life and what you put in your basket affects everyone in your household. Yet, it can be difficult to make healthier choices when you’re bombarded with tempting, unhealthy options.

For over 10 years I consistently led grocery shopping tours designed to teach you how to shop smart for your health. These tours address a need many overlook - until they are diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol. Why wait until we’re diagnosed to learn how to choose the right foods?

Who Can Benefit from the Tour?

  • Anyone who wants to learn to eat healthily while shopping on a budget.
  • Those seeking healthy alternatives to junk food.
  • Those looking to understand how to read labels and branding terminology.
  • And those that want to gain the knowledge to do better for themselves and their families.

Like most people we follow our parents/family’s traditions. If your parents bought Tide to wash their clothes more than likely so, do you. If your parents bought a certain type of jelly, bread, or milk, those same brands often find their way into our shopping carts. While traditions have their place, breaking the cycle of generational health issues requires learning new, healthier habits.

Many people think that I’m going to take away their joys. When in all actuality I’m going to show you better alternatives to your Doritos, candy, and junk food. I’m going to teach you how to pick your meat, your fruits, and vegetables to ensure they last longer and taste better.

Every brand you purchase is about marketing, what catches your eye, what pulls at your heart strings or makes you salivate.

What Will You Learn on the Tour?

  • How to read and understand food labels.
  • The importance of your Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) and how it impacts your health and weight.
  • Tips for combating mineral and vitamin deficiencies since most of us are deficient. I’m going to teach you how to get what you need daily to be sufficient.
  • Identifying foods that cause inflammation and provide healthier alternatives.

We’re going to sample some products that will make you rethink your bad eating habits. Eating healthily doesn’t have to taste bad.

You’re going to walk away from this tour with so many “aha moments”, motivated, enlightened, ready to invest in a new you. You’re going to be nonstop sharing info with your family and friends but what you should really do is tell them to sign up for themselves. Their lifestyle is not yours, so they have to learn what works best for them.
