February 18, 2025 “Just Ride the WAVE!”
Every bootcamp, people start off so strong.
The first bootcamp of the new year is the most intense because of the New Year,
with people saying, “This is my year, New Year New Me.” However, this first
bootcamp of the New Year was a little different. We had two snow days in the
second and third week of the bootcamp, just when people were getting into the
groove of things, giving them an excuse to stay home. Once they were forced to
stay home many just ended up giving up.
A lot of these clients were on the path to
doing extremely well, with many losing a lot of weight and getting healthier.
But instead of sticking to what got them that way, they stop. They let a couple
of snow days stop them dead in their tracks. But, in order for the health and
fitness journey to work you must “Ride the Wave.”
The idea of "riding the wave" is a
great way to think about staying on a fitness journey. It means going with the
flow and adapting to the ups and downs that are thrown your way as you embark
on this fitness journey. There are many ups and downs one can and does
encounter while trying to get in shape.
Imagine you're surfing, and you catch a big
wave. First, it's exciting and you're moving forward, making progress. But
then, the wave starts to get choppy, and you have to adjust your balance to
stay on board. That's kind of like what happens when you're trying to stick to
a fitness routine. Some days you'll feel motivated and strong, and others
you'll feel tired or discouraged. However, you have to learn how to adapt
quickly while maintaining balance in order to successfully navigate through
your fitness journey.
The key is to keep moving forward, even when
the wave gets rough. Don't give up just because you miss a workout or eat
something unhealthy. Instead, learn to roll with the punches and get back on
track as soon as you can. You have to be able to adjust accordingly, so that
you remain balanced through the choppiness life brings and your fitness routine
doesn’t suffer.
Riding the wave also means being patient and
not getting too caught up in setbacks. Fitness is a journey, not a destination.
It's okay to have ups and downs, and it's okay to take things one step at a
time. Just keep showing up, putting in the work, and trusting that progress
will come.
So, the next time you're feeling discouraged
or struggling to stay on track, just remember to ride the wave. Take a deep
breath, relax, and keep moving forward. You got this! No Mess
