October 18, 2024 "The great white HOPE!"
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month...Today I celebrate one of favorite clients of all times…whom I affectionately call…” White girl Sherry.”
I met Sherry when I was over the ER, and she was in the ultrasound department. One of Sherry’s jobs was to come and get patients from the ER for their procedures via wheelchair or stretcher. Sherry’s COPD, other diagnosis and just being out of shape often prevented her from getting it done. The staff often complained that she couldn’t do her job and wanted her fired.
When Dana suggested Sherry join the bootcamp this was my first time ever being hesitant. You see White girl Sherry was a health train wreck. Breast cancer, multiple abdominal surgeries, severe arthritis, bilateral wrist surgery, carpal tunnel, asthma, kidney stones, abdominal aortic aneurysm, septic shock…and the list goes on. Lastly, her doctors stated that she would be placed on an oxygen tank by the end of that year. Sherry was only 55 years old.
Sherry took 1 hr. and 34 minutes to complete her initial 2 mile run PT test. She had to sit in a chair to work out because she was unstable, out of breath and would often have to sit down to recover. The one thing Sherry had and TFC poured into her was HOPE.
Sherry became our biggest loser, losing 29.9 lbs. her very first bootcamp by having perfect attendance, exercising in a chair, and eating healthily.
By the end of that bootcamp Sherry was transporting her own patients from the ER yelling, “Yup that’s my trainer in a full sentence when she would see me.” Needless to say, I had hospital staff signing up for camp left and right once they saw Sherry’s results.
Sherry went on to lose 100lbs in one year with us, she got promoted to the green team running 34 minutes after only two consecutive bootcamps. Sherry went from people wanting to fire her, to getting many other job offers. I’m proud to say Sherry is now 70 years old. She looks amazing and is still funny as ever. She still sends me the most clutch your pearls emails. Breast cancer came back in 2015 however she beat it again.
White girl Sherry, I love you. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to help you have a better quality of life. You helped me trust my skills to train people that were like you once were. Until we see face to face continue being the warrior you are, keep spreading HOPE and being, No Mess
This was a personal testimony Sherry wrote about HOPE.
My personal reason for joining Tadda’s Fitness Camp was the need to get healthy and to lose 100 lbs. I needed to take control of my health; I was recovering from breast cancer, had 3 major surgeries in a 15-month span of time, and had recently been diagnosed with asthma and COPD. At 55 years old I also have arthritic knees and back trouble. I wanted to lose weight and look better. I wanted to be able to breathe better and feel better.
What TFC offered me was HOPE, hope that I could lose weight, breathe better, and become fit. I am losing weight (loss almost 50 lbs. in 2 camps), I am breathing better, and I am becoming more fit. There are as many reasons as there are people in Tadda’s Fitness Camp. Perhaps the easiest way to summarize the success of this program is…HOPE”
