This week we did a workout where certain exercises you paired up with someone. I had two clients that didn’t know each other paired up. At the end of class, they were sitting back-to-back, and I asked everyone to pray for their partner. By the time class ended these two were both crying. When they turned to face each other, one shared she lost a cousin this week. The other stated she lost her job. I ended on this note after a strenuous class and week to ground us, because I often say you never know what a person is going through so it’s important to pray for the known and unknown.

The person who lost their job and I had a conversation and she shared how so fitting the praying for each was. She stated, I didn’t realize how much I appreciated my job until it was gone. The conversation continued to how we often don’t appreciate our health or weight/size until it’s gone.

This week I challenge you to find a picture of yourself that you loved and if you could go back to that weight/size this picture would be exactly what you want.

Go ahead and findthatpicture if you can before you read any further. I also would love for you to share them with me.

Once you have that picture, be honest and think about what you were saying/feeling about your weight/size at that time of your life. Were you wishing you were taller, slimmer, more toned or were you just right.

Now ask yourself two questions; What’s the difference between that person in the picture and the person you are today? How did you get to where you are today?

If the person in that picture is who you want to be again what’s stopping, you from achieving those goals?

I get clients all the time that bring in old pictures of themselves. And their first response is, I wish I could be this size again. I say to them that it can absolutely happen. They then look at me crazy cause they don’t believe it is possible.

I have great news. The person you want to be is already there. She/he hasn’t left. It’s going to take some hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and consistency. You’ve been that person before, however at the time you didn’t appreciate it. You may be guilty of self-shaming by saying I am too fat or too skinny. You may have nitpicked certain areas of your body, I wish my butt was bigger, I wish my legs were slimmer, I wish I was in a size “xyz.” Lastly you may have been perfect and abused your body with highly processed foods, excessive alcohol, drugs, or lack of sleep.

Getting back there can be frustrating. Instead of feeling discouraged, try to embrace the process. You didn’t lose the person in the mirror in a day, and you won’t regain that person as quickly either, but with consistency and commitment, you can build back fitness and strength that even exceeds your earlier accomplishments.

At TFC and with Fit Nurse Tadda, you can get back what you had or where you were.

-Make a Plan – use our bootcamp, personal training, classes, or other clubs like our (Lift and Run Clubs) to create a plan to follow and gradually build upon.

-Build Habits – once you have the plan in place, follow through, create weekly and daily routines or habits, and stick with them. They build on themselves.

-Get Inspired by the Community – grow and develop relationships, workout partnerships, accountability fit pals and pray for each other, spot each other, and have fun working it out. You are not alone at TFC.

Getting back to you in that picture won’t happen overnight. But it is possible to regain it if you’re patient and put in the work. Make minor changes daily. By sticking with a plan, developing healthy habits, and getting support from your community, you will be able to get it back. Pretty soon you will be even better than you were before in that picture. And you will have learned the lesson to appreciate where you are and treasure it, not waiting ‘til it’s gone. No Mess
