GOOD VIBRATIONS ONLY!

October 14, 2022 “Good Vibrations ONLY!"

As an emergency medicine RN, a trauma nurse, I’m trained to be highly observant of people’s behavior and our surroundings and during this first week of Bootcamp I witnessed positive energy draw two strangers together.

At the beginning of the indoor workout, Zon, who is a longtime member of TFC is 62, on the red team and has won Most Fit 4 times, has been gone for a while.  She rejoined this Bootcamp. The last time she was here Kerry, was on the green team across the room. Kerry with a leg injury and all has been promoted to the orange team. As the workout began Zon was quite far from Kerry. As the workout became more intense and I was screaming for high energy from everyone, I started to see them gravitate towards one another. Next thing I knew they were exercising side by side, smiling ear to ear and joking with small chatter. These two did not know each other but their vibrations brought them together.

Have you ever noticed how someone else’s energy can impact your day? Make it better or totally destroy it!!  You have probably experienced the effect of energy many times in your life without really putting two and two together! Certain people radiate positive energy, and others negative energy. These vibes become infectious…remember when you were feeling a little down and you spent time with an upbeat person and then felt more energized and upbeat. Or you were feeling upbeat and were completely flattened by a negative energy person?

A person’s energy is a combination of their past, their present mindset, their dominant future thoughts, and their perception of the world. Sometimes that energy is easily felt, and other times it manifests subtly and subconsciously.

Positive energized people, often make you feel safe, happy and relaxed around them. Their vibe is welcoming. You meet someone for the first time and you feel like you are being recharged and uplifted just by being near them. You enjoy the time you spend with them and look forward to your next meeting. Yes, please! Whereas negative people are often judgmental, unhappy (complainers) and they like to put others down or gossip. You intuitively feel insecure, unhappy and tense around them. Their vibe is off-putting. No Thanks!

You may not consciously know it, but your senses pick up on these vibrations and read them. Sometimes it is easy to see how others affect you, but many times you may not even realize the effect others are having on you or the effect you are having on others. Building self-awareness of how situations or people make you feel can help correct or deflect this negative energy. The more you notice other people’s energy the more conscious you become of who you want to spend time with. Energy vampires or suckers are good to avoid!

Remember we all feel negative at times and that’s OK, it’s how long you choose to stay there that matters and sometimes it is important for you to find someone to hang out with who can help bring your energy up, just as it is necessary and empathetic to help lift the energy of others who are accessible and open to it.

The more positive you feel the more you realize how important it is to stay positive and not let anyone affect your energy because energy is such an important part of your life. It gives you strength, meaning, creativity, motivation, focus and if you make it a priority it will serve you well.

Evaluate the energy flowing within you and around you, everywhere including home, office, and social gatherings. Don’t wait for others to create the positive, rewarding, motivating environment that you have the power to create all on your own. A positive environment is a healthy environment whether it be at home or in the office.

I tell my clients “Be responsible for the energy you carry around with you” because it has immense power. Reflect on your energy often and be conscious of how it ripples out into the world and into the lives of others.

Here are five tips:

-Fitness is so much more than exercise, is the catalyst for positive change, And it affects all areas of your life.

-People who exercise regularly are much happier because when we exercise the body releases chemicals that boost and suppress hormones that cause stress and anxiety. Among the chemicals released are endorphins, serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitters which are related to pain and depression emotions.

-Get a vitamin B12 shot weekly to help boost your mood amongst other benefits.

-Check the company you keep.

-And at all times breathe deep and long and remember you are No Mess!
