Treat your body better and it will treat you better!

Treat others as you would like for them to treat you is how I try to live my life. Just imagine if we begin to treat our bodies with the same reverence. Really great things will begin to happen for you. You will become more aware of what you eat and drink; you will notice how you breathe; and perhaps, most importantly, you will develop the capacity for self-love and positive body image. 

During one bootcamp while running our outdoor workout Street Olympics, one of my clients kept stopping because she was feeling nauseated. When I asked her if she was okay, she said, “I will be okay, I know what I did, and I have to stop treating my body like that”. Another client stated “I eat bad on the weekends and boy do I pay for it on Monday...why do I keep doing that to myself because I always feel like crap and it takes my body at least 2-3 days to recover”. 

Your body is a dynamic machine. It will blow your mind with its capabilities if only you treat it better and allow it to work for you. Your body is designed to heal itself as well. If you cut your hand, it will heal automatically, unless you deliberately put dirt in it, or you keep picking at the wound, or if your immune system is severely suppressed by the way you have been eating and living; resulting in some very serious illness that causes delayed healing. If you twist your ankle like I did a couple years ago, it will heal faster if you treat it properly with a good nutritional diet and if you were in good health going into an injury.  

The point is that your body will heal itself unless YOU keep injuring it. But most people don’t realize that they are “injuring” their body every day by the way they are living and eating. When we eat wrong and live wrong, these small daily “injuries” will result in a disease of one type or another. Unfortunately, doctors ONLY learn how to treat the symptoms of disease rather than addressing the root cause of the disease itself. Why? Because Doctors prescribe medication, ALL of which have side effects and ALL of which harm the body, when used for a long length of time! And to keep it real, medications only cover up the symptoms, they don’t heal your disease! Medication allow you to feel better, at least temporarily, but your disease is actually getting worse. The ONLY way to really get well and remain well, is to STOP doing the things that cause disease and start doing the things that rebuild the immune system, the only system in your body that can get you well and keep you well! You don’t have to get sick or remain sick. Most diseases are curable once you stop doing the things that cause them.  

You can take charge of your health and get well mentally and physically. Our bodies are precious; so why do we neglect them on such basic levels so often? A serene mind really is nothing without a healthy body to carry it. So, take an hour out of your day a few times a week to care for it. Sleep, eat, rest, get a massage and pay attention to how your body responds to different foods and activities. Show your body the same compassion that you endeavor to show others; it needs it just as much, if not even more. Can I Get It? No Mess
