Yesterday as we were running, I was encouraging someone to jog instead of walk, I then started to push her up MY hill, needless to say she was not happy with me. She stated, “If this is what I have to do on run days, then I just won’t show up”. How self-defeating of her! One of the hardest things to do in life is to take a chance and step outside of your comfort zone. It’s definitely easier to be set in your ways and do only what makes you feel comfortable. However, your life experiences shape you, as you continue to learn and grow as a person. New experiences can inspire you to take paths that you never imagined and open you up to a whole new world of possibilities. If you never take a chance, you can never get to somewhere new.
The definition of New
/n(y)o͞o/
adjective
- 1.
not existing before; made, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time.
When I say try new things, I am not necessarily talking about life-threatening risks that require you to sign some kind of liability waiver before-hand, unless of course that’s your idea of new. For most of you, I am talking about the small everyday risks that you avoid taking. Like introducing yourself to someone new, trying a healthy food, traveling out of the country (Bali), starting your own business, or practicing pushups. Doing anything that scares you is taking a risk, but you will reap the rewards of the new experience, new skill or new friend.
Big risks are also important for making real progress in life and being fulfilled. Following a seemingly impossible dream takes a lot of courage, trust me I know. And if you’ve tried and failed, starting over takes even more nerve. But whether you get there or not, you will be glad that you put everything that you had into trying. That in itself makes it worth it.
So, What’s Stopping You From Being Brand New?
Your habits are what keep you from this, your old ways and mindset are hindering you. Just think, if you are type 2 diabetic, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or have gained more weight than you ever have in your life, then it’s more likely you did this to yourself. Your old ways got you that way! Your old ways will keep you gaining weight, taking medications, and attending multiple doctors’ appointments. Your old ways are pulling your quality of life down a long, dreadful and dark alley.
In 2020 declare a NEW vision over your life. Start with clearing your mind and consider these additional steps to a NEW you in the new year: Seek professional advice from your trainer, go on a grocery shopping tour, (Tadda’s Fitness offers the best), introduce more vegetables to you plate, stretch daily, decrease your plate size, don’t eat after 8pm on any given night (unless you work nights), drink more water especially alkaline and try new things. Declare to get into the best shape of your life. As always be inspired as you do these things knowing it’s a natural part of growth and the NEW you. No Mess!
