Just Keep on Hating

January 12, 2024 "Just Keep on Hating"

A pastor asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast.

“Lord, I hate buttermilk,” the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going.

The farmer loudly proclaimed, “Lord, I hate lard.” Now the pastor was growing concerned.

Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, “And Lord, you know I don’t much care for raw white flour.” The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn’t the only one to feel uncomfortable.

Then the farmer added, “But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits. So, Lord, when things come up that we don’t like, when life gets hard, when we’re under heat/pressure, when we don’t understand what you’re saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It will probably be even better than biscuits. Amen.”

Oftentimes the New Year brings new beginnings, new resolutions, and new goals. Yet too often we stand in our own way because we don’t know how to change our behavior in a sustainable manner because we "HATE" things.

So, as I continue to pray for my clients, my prayer for 2024 is for my clients to just keep on hating if they will but don’t quit. To stop taking long breaks from fitness, stop living in excuses and stop living in past injuries fueled by fear.

So, if you're going to hate, HATE ON…

-Hate on the run days but still show up. Find a rabbit, someone you know is always way ahead of you, but you are still able to see them. Make it your goal for this bootcamp to chase them down until you catch them. So, hate the run, but keep running.

-Hate on doing push-ups but appreciate your arms and back in your sundresses and tank tops. Pick a pushup hero and be guided. Ask them for guidance for improving your form and gaining more strength to improve your pushups with each PT Test.

-Hate on eating healthy but thank God you got off those medications. Figure out what works for you, is it eating for your blood type, eating more raw, vegan or pescatarian and when you find what really works for you and your body stick with it by making it enjoyable.

-Hate on the planking and ab workouts for now but when your snatched in that swimsuit taking full body pics and posting them on social media remember you hated them. LOL With each rep envision the tiny waistline or six pack abs instead of focusing on how much you hate them.

-Hate on being consistent but watch the results happen faster. Focus only on one area at a time, your run or your eating for example. The better you can focus your attention and energy the better your consistency will be.

-Hate on hydrating properly but watch your skin clear up. Start small. If you barely drink any water, make a plan for 32 ounces or more a day for a week and then add on ounces each day. Slow, but sustainable.

-Hate on going to yoga or taking a stretch class but when you are able to reach your toes or tie your shoes with ease you will be forever grateful. Grow slow and stretch a little each day for a minute or two. Slow results make for lasting benefits.

So, hate as much as you like, but know that you will be building better habits the whole time and the results will be worth it. No Mess!
