Today, I was speaking with one of our online bootcamp members, I check her meal plan booklet daily. She seemed to be doing great with her food, so I asked how her were workouts going. She stated not so well, my job has me working 12-16 hours a day. I know how important our jobs are, however, I also know that without your health there is no employment for you, so you can either make time or make excuses.
One of the most common questions that people often ask me is “How do you find the time to accomplish all you do?! Most of us work 40+ hours a week, in addition to many “normal” life obligations like volunteering, running errands, paying bills, cleaning our homes, and most importantly maintaining our relationships and families. The answer is simple… You don’t find time, you make time!
When I started Tadda’s Fitness 10 years ago, I was working two jobs both of which I loved. I still look back and say how did I accomplish being a Nurse Educator for the ICU and the Emergency. In addition to working for Genentech also as a Nurse Educator, where I traveled to many hospitals across Georgia all while growing a successful business. My day started at 5AM, where I would teach bootcamp, by 6:30AM I was in the ER or ICU where I had 8-12 hour work days. Then on the weekends and sometimes during the week I might be in Augusta, GA or many other hospitals across Georgia. Was it easy NOPE! Was it worth it YUP!
In life I have seen it time and time again, people make time for WHO they want and for WHAT they want, the rest just make excuses. Here are 4 reasons to stop making excuses and make time for fitness now!
- You’ll Meet New People: If you’ve only been surrounding yourself with the same people, it may be time to switch things up. When you join a gym like Tadda’s Fitness Center, you’ll meet like-minded individuals who are health conscious. These new people will inspire and motivate you helping you to reach your goals. This makes for exciting and interesting conversation and you will make some new friends for life! I’ve seen it happen.
- Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone: What’s the fun in doing the same old routine every day? If you always have the same exercise practice and don’t step outside of your comfort zone, you’ll never really know what else is out there. It can also make things boring and stale. Magic happens when you get out of your comfort zone. This is where you are challenged and end up finding out so much about your dreams and goals. Things you didn’t even know you wanted to achieve.
- You’ll Learn About Yourself: When you exercise, you’ll also learn about yourself. As you make your way through your journey, you can learn more about your own interests and preferences, like eating for your blood type or that you like yoga. You will also learn what traits and skills you may need to develop to improve, such as patience or commitment. When we spend time with ourselves in new places, we learn and grow as people.
- Life is Unexpected: Finally, life is unexpected. You may make plans for well into the future, only to find out that life’s twists and turns have a different plan or path for your reality. If getting in shape, coming off medication or losing weight is an interest of yours, it’s up to you to make it happen. If you make time for your health and fitness goals now, you will be much closer to your goals than you were yesterday.
After all, being healthy is meant to enhance the quality of our lives. It improves our overall health and well-being. It brings us joy and strengthens the mind and body. So, find a way to make a healthy lifestyle work with your life. Place it at the top of your priority list and schedule an appointment for fitness every day. The time and means of accomplishing your goals are there, you just need to make it happen! Remember, there will never be a perfect time, you must make the time. No Mess!
