I really enjoyed watching all the different eclipse celebrations on social media as millions of Americans witnessed history when a total solar eclipse, exclusive to the U.S., swept across the country from coast to coast for the first time shrouding states in sudden darkness. What I loved most was seeing so many people gathered outside laughing and enjoying life, soaking up the vitamin D and witnessing God’s grace. By plain sight looking up into the beautiful blue sky it looked like any other normal day but this is where God’s grace comes in because if you had no solar glasses you couldn’t see the magnificent transformation that was happening right before your eyes. God is constantly moving in our lives, however, because we can’t see any evidence we often think nothing is happening. Just know it’s happening whether you see it or not!
The rare celestial spectacle on Aug. 21 has a trajectory exclusive to the U.S. for the first time since the nation’s birth in 1776. It’s also the first total eclipse of the sun that was visible from the contiguous U.S. since 1979. Total solar eclipses occur when the moon passes directly between the sun and the Earth and completely covers the entire face of the sun. They’re exceedingly rare.
As I started reading some of the facts about an eclipse I couldn’t help but relate them to the weight loss journey.
1. You cannot race the 2017 total solar eclipse
Even the most dedicated eclipse chaser would not be able to keep up with the August eclipse as it made its way across America. Someone would need to travel at roughly 2,400 mph to chase the moon’s shadow, according to Bill Kramer, a well-known expert in the eclipse chasing community. When it comes to fitness, know there are no quick fixes, no gadgets or magic pill. You must realize and understand “healthy” weight loss takes time to come off and to maintain. Just like an eclipse chaser, they can try to travel state to state only to come up short missing the entire phenomenon. Don’t short your health enjoy the view from where you are and celebrate all your victories along the way.
2. You must have protection
When we look directly at the sun, the part of our eye that is in danger is the retina, a light-sensitive layer that can easily be damaged by high levels of light. There are no pain fibers in the back of the eye, unlike our skin to warn us when something is wrong so wearing the solar glasses not only allow you to see the eclipse it also protects your eyes as well. When getting into fitness it’s important to wear the proper fitness gear such as shoes and hats when running. Also, wearing knee support if you have bad knees or my No Mess Waist Belt to protect your back, improve posture and to engage your core. All of which will help you to achieve your goals safely.
3. A solar eclipse only happens at a New Moon.
A new moon is the first phase of the moon when it lies closest the Sun. For me, I like to think a new moon symbolizes new beginnings when you look at old goals and set new ones. The opportunity to start anew, recharge and refresh your dreams and desires. It is a time of magic!4. Total solar eclipses won’t be around forever. Once in a lifetime event**
4. Total solar eclipses won’t be around forever. Once in a lifetime
Once in a lifetime event, there will be no more total solar eclipses for about 600 million years, scientists say. Because of the moon’s slowly increasing orbit, NASA believes the moon will have moved far enough away from Earth in that time frame that it will no longer be big enough to entirely cover the sun. When it comes to your body, you will never get another one. The more you neglect and abuse them we put ourselves at risk for many comorbidities such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack or stroke. Don’t wait until it’s too late, take care of your bodies today!

5. It’s all about totality
If you are lucky to be in the path of totality, you are in for an astronomical treat. It will first appear as if the Moon is taking a bite out of the Sun. As the eclipse progresses, the sky will get darker, the temperature will drop and if you pay attention, animals and birds will become quieter. In fitness, only a few people truly get that health and fitness must be part of your life for the rest of your life. You will have some dark moments, you will be uncomfortable at times but know that when you quiet your surroundings you will then start to feel the transformation happening right before your eyes whether you can see it or not. Trust yourself and trust your fitness journey. If at any time, you get discouraged just look up to the heavens cause that’s where all your help and blessings flow. Can I Get It? No Mess
